This is a submission for the Winter Contest, so please rate my story. Merry Christmas and good luck to everyone entering this year’s contest. Especially around the holidays. There are a lot excuses for invading the privacy of a teenage daughter, especially as a father. I could say especially after that I was concerned about the content of her gift to her boyfriend. I might have said before I found the pictures that I felt she should be saving money for college instead of throwing it away on a man who only seemed interested in one thing. But my real excuse, lame as it may sound, was that there was a Christmas gift on my daughter’s bed, and I thought it might be for me. I’m horrible at gifts.

Cancel 0 Everyone has fears. Some are afraid of heights, spiders, death, stagefright, or even flying in an airplane. None of these are my fears. I can truly say that above any small fears that I may have, one stands out above them all. My biggest fear is that I will have a daughter.
My biggest fear is that I will have a daughter. Now before you tell me how much of a sexist pig I am, let me tell you, it is not my life I am worried about, it is hers. Once again that sounded awful.

I had an older brother and sister 12 and 15 years my senior respectively, parents who were happy together, and my aunt and cousins lived one street over. I had a lot of attention growing up being the baby and all, but my main source of affection came from my Dad. To define our relationship like that would misconstrue it; we were simpatico.
